"Meticulous attention to farming and winemaking places Agrapart at or near the top of Champagne's finest artisan growers. These remain some of the most fascinating wines in the region. Pascal Agrapart embodies the best of the artisan tradition in Champagnes, and his wines show it."
-- Antonio Galloni
Pascal Agrapart officially became the proprietor and winemaker of Agrapart et Fils in 1984, but his experience in the cellar began long before that. His family, unlike many of the growers in Champagne, has been producing their own wine since the domaine was founded in 1894. His 10 hectares of vines are located primarily in Avize, Cramant, Oiry and Oger - the grand cru villages of the Côtes de Blancs.
The soil in Avize consists of chalky limestone with varying amounts of clay, and each site expresses a unique terroir. Although he has no interest in obtaining certification, all of the vineyards are farmed organically with a few BioDynamic influences. There are no chemicals used in the vineyards and all work is done by hand. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and vinified in exactly the same way to highlight the differences of each site.
The result is a range of wines that offers a precise study of terroir with excellent quality across the lineup, and a reputation as one of the most sought-after grower Champagnes.
