In 1981, Castello di Farnetella was purchased by Fattoria di Fèlsina and with it, a new leader was established in the Colli Senesi region. Located only 9 miles from the Fèlsina estate and on the border with Vino Mobile di Montepuliano, Farnetella sits on a sprawling 400 hectares of olive groves, rolling wheat fields and wild rosemary. The combination of the most southerly location in Chianti, and some of the highest vineyards in Tuscany (up to almost 2,000 feet), allow for a long growing season, ample phenolic ripeness, and supremely balanced wines.

It is here that the superstar team of Giuseppe Mazzolcolin and Franco Barnebei use the same quality-first mentality they employ at Fèlsina to produce award-winning wines of power and finesse. Organic framing, ultra-low yields of only the most perfectly ripe fruit, extended aging and harvesting by hand are just a few of the many methods used at the estate. Be it the silken feel of the Chianti Colli Senesi, the richness and depth of the Lucilla, or the intensity of the Poggio Granoni from rocky souls at the highest elevations, the wines of Farnetella are an incredible mix of quality and value.
