"Wines that offer sensational value."

                               -- Robert Parker

Freelander is a new project founded by Mike O'Connell (owner of Grayson Cellars). Sourced through select vineyards that produce elegant and impressive wines, we are excited to be a part of his inaugural vintage. Most of the fruit comes from small production vineyard blocks in California's central valley.

The handcrafted wines are true to varietal, show complex fruit and have a gentle, well balanced finish. Each wine can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of foods. His aim is to bring to you some of the best California wines for the price.

The 2016 harvest was quite pleasant in California from a winemaker's standpoint, much like the 2015. The consistent spring weather allowed for steady growth and the weather turned very nice, allowing for good growth from bud break and beyond. A lack of rain throughout the spring and fall allowed for extended hang time and good fruit ripening.

This Chardonnay shows good acidity and provides a nice balance to the ripe pineapple, pear and passion fruit flavors. Just a hint of vanilla oak spice ends in a finish that's clean and pure. Ages in French and American oak.

Aged in American and French oak, it shows massively rich flavors of blackberries and cassis. The full-bodied wine shows lush mouthfeel,
balance and complexity. The ripe, sweet tannins and a touch of
toasted oak complete the gentle finish.
