When John & Tracey Skupny decided to launch Lang & Reed in 1996, they did so with over 30 years of experience in the wine industry and a vast network of contacts and friends. Since arriving in the Napa Valley, John has worked with a long list of notable producers, and they both have been actively involved with the Napa Valley Vintners, Auction Napa Valley, and philanthropic efforts for the St. Helena Public Schools Foundation.

The North Coast Cab Franc comes from an assemblage of Cabernet Franc from vineyards located in Lake County, Sonoma, and Napa Valley, a perfect environment for creating fresh wines that mirror the same characteristics of the Loire Valley reds John and Tracey found so compelling in the beginning. The Two Fourteen is a single clone (214) that is soured from the steep hillsides of the Sugarloaf Vineyard in Napa and expresses the spice, minerals, acidity, depth, and complexity of the Loir with a lush and concentrated body that can only come from Napa.

Today, celebrating over 20 years, Lang & Reed is a successful and conscientiously family-run winery built on John and Tracey's Midwestern roots and a passionate love affair with the Cabernet Franc grape that began in the Loire Valley and Bordeaux. Intrigued by the magnitude of distinction held by the varietal in those famous wine regions, the KSSkupnys set out to produce a Cabernet Fran that was "true to type" - redolent in aroma, pure in flavor, and possessing structure and balance. John has become one of California's foremost authorities on the grape, and he has spend years seeking out the very finest vineyards for Franc in all the Golden State.
