It's exciting to watch a star in its ascendency, which is exactly what we have the privilege of witnessing with winemaker Sashi Moorman. Over the past decade, he has quietly risen fro the forefront of the "balance" movement and cemented his place as one of the premier producers of cool-climate varietals working in the United States today. He's been called "one of California's brightest starts" by Decanter  and "an acknowledged master" by The Wall Street Journal, and has been featured in nearly every publication in between.

Where possible, indigenous yeasts are utilized and sulfur is kept to a minimum. iElevagei occurs in 500L barrels to limit oxygen contact and minimize the influence of oak. Obvious themes permeate the making of these Syrahs, but each affords a unique snapshot of the Santa Barbara region. The wines of Piedrasassi will stimulate not only the palate, but the mind as well.

Piedrasassi is the very definition of artisanal. Everything is dine by hand with the singular goal of producing something that is authentic, that reflects the minds of those who make it and the place from which it comes. In terms of vineyard sources, cool climates are preferred to allow savory nuances to pervade the wine. The fruit is picked on the early edges of ripeness to keep the alcohol in balance to to maintain acidity.
