The team at Scribe Winery isn't just making some of the best wine in California today, they are doing it with style. Scribe has quickly built a reputation or hospitality, boasting a brilliant tasting room at the southern tip of Sonoma Valley with a literary theme and a rustic vibe. The front lawn provides a relaxed atmosphere to sip the wines and take in panoramic views of Carneros to the south. But it's all just window dressing if the juice in the bottle isn't up to par...and the the good news is, the wines are even better than the views.

Every wine, in every vintage, sees its own tailor-made winemaking program. Fermentations are often long and slow; malolactic is often blocked; and the percentage of new oak is kept to a minimum. The aim is to allow the vineyard to express itself through the wine, with particular emphasis on a savory flavor profile. These wines are built for the dinner table. Or the picnic table, depending on your preference. No matter where you enjoy them, we think you'll find the Scribe wines among the most exciting being produced on the west coast today.

The estate vineyard comprises 50 planted acres in the middle of a 250acre converted turkey farm. Sylvaner and Riesling are the primary varieties here. The vines are farmed organically, and produce wines that are distinctly California but unique entities unto themselves. Beyond that, owners Adam and Andrew Mariani have access to incredible sites in Carneros and beyond. Their Cabernet Sauvignon hails from a 5-acre piece on Atlas Peak, nearly 100 feet above sea level.
